Thrive Themes Review – Why It’s Worth The Price

Thrive Themes Review

Thrive Themes is a suite of conversion focused tools designed to help you get leads and sales on your WordPress website.

Their products include WordPress themes (templates), lead generation plugins and more.

In this review of Thrive Themes and its associated plugins and products, I’m going to explain what the products are and why I think their value is worth the price.

The Importance of Conversions

If you’re like most online business owners, you understand the importance of having a conversion focused website.

Without conversions (email opt-ins, for example) your site isn’t bringing in any sales.

It’s also important to know that all the decent conversion tools on the market require you to spend money to purchase them.

So, in the end, it becomes a matter of cost versus value if you want your site to be successful at generating leads and getting sales and conversions.

I’d like to mention that many of the links in this post are affiliate links.  This means that if you purchase a product through an affiliate link, I will receive a commission at no additional cost to you.  These commissions help pay the costs to keep this website going and support the free content I provide.

Thrive Themes

To start, Thrive Themes has multiple products to help you with website conversions.

Here are the different products associated with Thrive and a description of each…

Note:  The Thrive Themes suite of products are designed to work with WordPress only.  If you’re looking for conversion tools for Squarespace, Wix, Weebly, etc., these won’t work for you.

Thrive (WordPress) Themes / Templates

Let’s start with Thrive’s WordPress themes (templates).

They have 10 different ones, primarily based on a site’s type (e.g. blog, magazine, etc.).

Thrive WordPress Themes

My favorite is their Ignition theme.  It’s one of their legacy themes that you can get as part of Thrive Suite.

The themes they offer are all conversion focused and very customizable.  Plus, they integrate very smoothly with all the plugins.

They’re built with speed in mind, are fully mobile responsive (key for SEO) and look clear and easy to read.

I also like the fact that you can use any font you want.  Some of the other well-known WordPress themes making changing fonts next to impossible.

Recently, Thrive Themes released their newest theme called Shapeshift.  You can also get it as part of Thrive Suite.

It goes way beyond their legacy themes and allows you to customize your theme instead of being forced to work within a template.

It truly revolutionized WordPress themes and is what I’m now using on this site.

Thrive Leads

Thrive Leads is a plugin that is a full-featured email list building tool that comes as part of Thrive Suite.

It allows you to create all different types of opt-in forms for collecting email address from your visitors.

For example, you can create pop-ups based on when someone clicks on a button or line of text (i.e. 2-step opt-ins).

You can create other pop-ups based on exit intent or time on site (and you can turn those off on mobile, which is good for SEO).

You can create in-line forms inside your content and sticky ribbons on the top of your page.

You can create opt-in widgets which are great for your sidebar.

Plus a whole lot more including slide-ins, screen fillers, content upgrades (my favorite), scroll mats and multiple-choice forms.

The other cool feature that comes with this plugin is the ability to do A/B Tests on your forms.  Great for figuring out which forms perform best with your website visitors!

Thrive Architect

Thrive Architect is their WYSIWYG page builder.  Consider it a visual editor for WordPress.

It’s a drag and drop builder that’s very intuitive to use.  It lets you drop in all kinds of pre-made elements like buttons, testimonials, countdown timers, lead generation forms and more onto your pages.

I’ve used Divi and LeadPages and I think Thrive Architect is the best landing page builder out there.

You may have heard it called Thrive Content Builder or Thrive Landing Pages at one point, but Thrive Architect was a total redesign with the point of replacing those.

They did a great job and with just a little practice, someone (like me) without a lot of design skills can really make a great looking landing page from scratch.

Now if you don’t want to create a landing page from scratch, Thrive Architect has over 230 pre-made, conversion focused landing pages built in that you can use.

Think home pages, opt-in pages, sales pages, webinar pages and more.

They’re setup so you can make minor changes to fit with your content, but still retain the look and feel of the pre-designed page.  And they have all the opt-ins built right into the pages so that you can use them to build your email list.

Clever Widgets

Thrive Clever Widgets allow you to display different content in your widget areas, depending on your posts, pages, categories and tags.  They also allow you to use advanced targeting rules to determine what content to display where.

So this means you can show more relevant and highly targeted offers to people so that you can get the benefit of more sales and conversions by doing so.

For example, someone is on a food blog.  On the food blog there are blog posts with recipes for meat-eaters and blog posts with recipes for vegetarians.

With Clever Widgets you could only show your ad for your Vegetarian Cook Book on blog posts with the tag “vegetarian” and not show it to the meat-eaters, since it wouldn’t be relevant to them.

Get it?  Pretty cool!

Thrive Ultimatum

Thrive Ultimatum is a scarcity marketing tool.

It allows you to create fixed date, recurring and evergreen campaigns and advertise those campaigns on your website.

You can design the campaigns to appear as top ribbons, bottom ribbons or in widgets.  Inside those visuals you’ll see a countdown timer showing when your offer expires and of course a button to learn more about the offer.

This is great for prompting visitors to check out what your urgent offer is and getting them to click and learn more.

Headline Optimizer

Thrive Headline Optimizer allows you to A/B test your blog post headlines, then showing only the ones that perform best.

Better headlines attract more attention and more clicks.

You start by writing up several headlines for your post and then let Headline Optimizer do its thing.  It will look at click through rate, scrolling and time on content to determine which headline is performing the best.

Then it will start displaying only the best performing headline, helping you get more clicks to your blog posts.

Thrive Ovation

Thrive Ovation is a plugin that helps you gather testimonials from within your website.

For example, say someone leaves a comment on your website that you’d like to use as a testimonial.

With the plugin, you can click a button and save it into your testimonial library, including the name, picture and comment from the person who left it.

You can then use that later in a sales page or home page.

It also integrates into Twitter and Facebook, allowing you to save testimonials from there too.

Since you do need to get permission from people, Thrive Ovation has a feature that allows you to email people for their permission from inside your WordPress dashboard.

Finally, the plugin lets you display your testimonials anywhere you want on your website using shortcodes or Thrive Architect.

Definitely a valuable tool if you’re trying to make sales and need good testimonials to help close the sale!

Thrive Quiz Builder

Last but not least, Thrive Quiz Builder allows you to create engaging quizzes right on your website.

What’s great about this (and you may not have thought about this) is when people take quizzes on your site, it helps to keep them on your site for a longer period of time.

You see, the search engines like to look at dwell time (time spent on site) and use that as a ranking factor.

By having a quiz on your site, you’re increasing dwell time.  Perfect!

Behind the scenes there are other things that are great about this plugin, too.

That is, it helps you gather intel about your visitors.  The plugin gathers data about people’s answers and puts it into reports for you to use.

The benefit of this, is you can use the data to decide what content topics you should write about.  This helps to ensure you are appealing to what your visitors are looking for.

You can also use this to segment your email list, based on interest.

Thrive University and Education for Online Marketers

Thrive University
A Look Inside the Thrive University Dashboard

One thing Thrive does exceptionally well is educate people on online marketing.

Whether you’re a customer or not, you have access to Thrive University.

Inside there are over 35 online courses that teach you:

  • How to grow your email list.
  • How to create landing pages.
  • How to create marketing funnels.
  • How to write great copy.
  • How to build a website.
  • How to increase conversions.

Plus all kinds of hacks when it comes to using their products.

As an example, here’s their beginner’s guide to landing pages.

And speaking of education, the Thrive Blog alone will teach you a ton.  Many of the blog posts are instructional videos.

Plus, whenever they come out with something new, they talk about it on their blog.  Heck, they even give you a heads up about up and coming products too!

Thrive Themes Pricing

Thrive Pricing

So now that you have an overview of the products and education, it’s time to talk price.

There’s one important thing to know to start…

You get all products and education when you purchase Thrive Suite.

The next important thing to know is that Thrive has been gradually increasing prices as their products have gotten more popular and they’ve been adding more functionality to them.

They don’t do sales.  As a matter of fact, whenever Black Friday comes around they usually put out a blog post explaining why they don’t do sales.

It boils down to the fact that they don’t have to.  They believe in the value of their products and they don’t discount them.

So what that means to a perspective customer, is that you don’t have to wait for a sale to get the best price.

Their current price is the best price because you don’t know when they’re going to issue their next price increase.

Is Thrive Themes Worth the Price?

Is Thrive Worth The Price

As you can probably guess, I definitely think they’re worth the price.

Here’s why:

  • The value to price ratio is off the charts!  Seriously, no one comes close as far as I’m concerned.
  • Compared to LeadPages (their best competitor) they cost tons less and provide way more value.
  • You just may make your money back on the increased conversions you get from these tools.
  • Their content marketing and product usage education is fantastic.  So is their support.
  • More and more marketers are discovering them and you’re starting to see Thrive products dominate the market.
  • Thrive is used and endorsed by Darren Rowse, John Lee Dumas, Neil Patel and others.  Those big names alone should clinch it for you!

Also, once you buy, you’re grandfathered in to today’s price even if they raise it in the future.

Bottom line, take action and lock in the current price before it goes up again.

I know I’m glad I did.  I went with the Thrive Suite Yearly Membership and plan to continue with it indefinitely.  No reason to go elsewhere.

Note:  With Thrive Suite you get ALL the plugins and ALL the themes.  When you see the price you’ll understand the immense value you’re getting for what your paying.
